We make all of our American flags in Cambridgeshire at our head office, this allows us to make sure that all of our flags are made to the highest quality and conform with all regulations regarding the strict design of the US flag. Our national flags are finished with rope and toggle as standard.
Through our online shop you are able to purchase our printed American flags which are printed onto Spun Polyester. This material is used as standard for all of our national flags, and is approved by the Ministry of Defence for their national and navy flags. Spun Polyester is one of our highest quality flag materials and is also used for our hand sewn USA flags. We can also produce USA flags in a range of other materials, including 115gsm Knitted Polyester. History of the USA Flag
On January 1, 1776 George Washington ordered the Grand Union Flag to be hoisted above his base in Prospect Hill, Boston. At this time the congressional revolution which placed American forces under George Washington was laying siege to the British Army who had control of Boston. At this time the flag was made from 13 alternating red and white flags with the Union Jack in the upper left corner.
The next year Congress passed the first flag act, replacing the Union Jack with the original 13 states. Later between 1777 and 1960 a number of further acts have been passed adding additional stars to represent every state with the USA. The Flag is widely celebrated on July the 4th, American Independence day.
