Union Jack Flags Made in the UK

All our Union Jack flags adhere to official regulatory terms and are finished with rope and toggle as standard. Each Union Jack flag is produced in-house at our head office in Cambridgeshire to ensure consistent quality.

The red, white and blue design represents the three nations that form the Union Jack flag. The white cross is present in all three original flags, creating a distinctive design that defines the full Union Jack. Recognised around the world, the Union Jack is a symbol of the British Empire and remains the national flag of the United Kingdom.

We have a highly skilled and experienced sewing team who produce hand sewn Union Jack flags to the highest standard. Our sewn Union Jack flags are made from Spun Polyester, a premium fabric approved by the Ministry of Defence for strength and durability. This makes them ideal for traditional displays and long-term use.

Printed and Sewn Union Jack Options

Alongside our sewn range, we also offer printed Union Jack flags made to the same high standards. These are signed with pride and are available from stock for fast delivery. Printed Union Jacks are produced from Spun Polyester, giving them the same durability as our sewn Union Jack flags while maintaining a bold appearance when flying outdoors.

Through our online shop, you can order printed Union Jack flags in multiple different sizes. You can select the quantity required, and each printed Union Jack flag is finished with a rope and toggle, ready to fly. All flags are made at our Cambridgeshire head office and are supplied to the same exacting standards as our sewn range.

If you need a Union Jack flag in a custom size, alternative material, or prefer a sewn option, please contact our team for more details. Both printed and sewn Union Jack flags are available, giving you flexibility to choose the best option for your display.

History of the Union Jack Flag

The Union Jack flag has a rich history, combining the crosses of England, Scotland, and Ireland to form today’s iconic design.

  • 1603 – James VI of Scotland became King James I of England, uniting the thrones of England, Scotland, and Wales. The St George’s Cross and St Andrew’s Cross were used separately.
  • 1606 – The first union flag was created, combining the English and Scottish flags. It was initially only used at sea and was referred to as the Britain flag.
  • 1685 – The Union Jack began flying from the King’s castles and forts.
  • 1694 – The Union Jack officially replaced the St George’s Cross on government ships.
  • 1707 – Following the Act of Union, the flag was adopted by land forces as the national flag of Great Britain.
  • 1801 – The Act of Union with Ireland added the Cross of St Patrick, creating the Union Jack flag we recognise today.

The Union Jack flag remains one of the most recognised national flags in the world. It symbolises unity across the nations of the United Kingdom and is widely flown at events, institutions, and official locations.
