Sleeve Types

The sleeve of a feather flag is the fabric pocket or separate strip of material that runs vertically along one edge and is used to hold the flagpole. We offer three distinct sleeve options, each giving your feather flag a unique style.

Bias Sleeve: The Bias Sleeve is the industry standard and our most cost-effective option. It is a strip of fabric, typically available in black or white, that is sewn directly onto the flag. This style is often considered the standard feather flag option in the market It is available with Knitted Polyester or Polymesh flag material.

Standard Sleeve (Pleated): Our Standard Sleeve, also known as a Pleated Sleeve, is where your flag design is printed directly onto the sleeve. The design then appears stretched or pleated on the reverse side of the flag. It is available with Knitted Polyester, Eco Knitted Polyester or Polymesh flag material.

Pattern Matched Sleeve: The Pattern Matched Sleeve is printed separately to precisely mirror the flag's artwork. This ensures the design aligns perfectly when the sleeve is sewn onto the reverse side of the flag. It is available with Knitted Polyester, Eco Knitted Polyester or Polymesh flag material.

We offer a wide range of feather flag materials, each of the fabrics have different characteristics and are suitable for different conditions, meaning we will have a material fit for your specific requirements. Our most popular materials include:

Standard Knitted Polyester

Over 90% of flags produced in the UK use this material, Knitted polyester is used both internally and externally. These flags are suitable for mirror image due to our digital print method.

Polymesh

50% more durable than our standard knitted polyester, this is a permeable material that is suitable for all mirror image flags and for medium to long term use.

ECO Knitted Polyester

Produced from 100% recycled materials and meeting the same high quality as our standard knitted polyester. Approximately 2 plastic bottles have been used to make 1sqm of material. We can print vivid colours and crisp designs, making sure your promotional messages and branding stand out. Our Eco Knitted Polyester will provide you with an impressive looking display that is environmentally sustainable.

File Specifications

For optimal results, please follow these guidelines when preparing your artwork files.

Accepted File Formats:

  • Adobe Illustrator (.ai)
  • Encapsulated PostScript (.eps)
  • Portable Document Format (.pdf) - Preferred
  • Scalable Vector Graphics (.svg)

For our print purposes, we prefer artwork created in Adobe Illustrator and saved in a PDF format. Vector graphics are ideal as they are easy to scale and produce better print quality.

Resolution Requirements:

  • For Raster Images:
  • 150 DPI at 100% of the final size
  • 300 DPI at 50% of the final size

DPI (Dots Per Inch) measures the detail of an image. Increasing the size of a raster image can lead to blurriness or pixelation, which may not be visible on a computer screen but will show up in the final print.

Artwork Checklist

Before sending your artwork, please ensure you have reviewed the following checklist. If you need assistance, please contact us about our artwork support service.

  • Artwork has been supplied on the correct template and falls within the ‘Safezone’.
  • No bleed, crop marks, or registration marks have been included.
  • Artwork has been saved in the 'Your artwork' layer, and the 'INFO' layer has been deleted.
  • No notes, descriptions, or annotations have been included.
  • All text has been outlined and all links (including images) have been embedded.
  • Any raster images are of high enough quality and DPI. Zoom in to 100% to check for pixelation.
  • Artwork is in the required file format, preferably PDF.

We are able to produce both double sided and mirror image feather flags, helping you to create a flag that suits your unique display requirements.

  • Yes, all of our custom feather flags are supplied with carry bags as standard.

  • Yes, all of our custom feather flags are available with bases ideal for indoor displays. Our cross base is a great option for internal displays. We also have a range of bases ideal for outdoor displays, including our ground spike which is ideal for using on soft ground.

  • Custom feather flags are an extremely versatile product and can be used alongside a wide range of other promotional display products, including pop up exhibition display stands and branded Gazebos.

  • All of our custom feather flag base options are ideal for different display environments. For soft ground we recommend using a ground spike, internally we recommend a cross base and externally you can choose from a range of water fillable or concrete bases.
