The Difference between digital and screen printing
The Difference between digital and screen printing
Many of our most popular products like feather flags and teardrop flags can be printed using screen printing and digital printing methods. Each method of printing has its advantages and disadvantages which our customers should understand and consider before placing orders. This will ensure that you receive a product that best matches your deadline, cost and design requirements. Â
Screen Printing
Screen printing uses a stencil/screen to apply layers of ink on the surface. Each unique colour is applied one at a time, combining layers to achieve the final design. The areas of the print material that are covered with an impermeable substance will prevent the ink covering spaces that should be covered in that colour.Â
 AdvantagesÂ
 Disadvantages
Normally lower cost for large print runs
 Limited range of colours
Wider range of materials can be printed on
 Slow turn around time                                  Â
More vivid colours
 High minimum order quantity
Â
Digital Printing
Digital printing, the more modern process of the two, using a computer to process the artwork in order to print the design directly onto the surface of the product. This is not done in layers like screen printing and also does not require covering of areas that should remain blank.
 AdvantagesÂ
 Disadvantages
 Fast turn around timeÂ
More expensive in high volume orders
 Easy to print multiple coloursÂ
Colours are slightly less vibrant on some materials
 Best option for smaller quantitiesÂ
